Sarah Dent is a dedicated Registered Provisional Psychologist with a profound commitment to enhancing individual well-being through insightful therapeutic practices. Holding both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, Sarah’s academic accomplishments serve as the foundation for her evidence-based approach to therapy. However, her extensive experience—spanning over a decade within various mental health non-profit agencies—demonstrates her real-world expertise in understanding the complexities faced by individuals across diverse populations.
At the heart of Sarah’s practice lies Relational Cultural Theory (RCT) and Attachment Theory, both of which emphasize the essential role of connection in fostering psychological resilience. By recognizing how relationships impact emotional health—from early childhood attachments to adult relational dynamics—Sarah aims to cultivate environments that promote healing through connection. Sarah approaches counselling through an inclusive lens that considers not only psychological factors but also systemic influences such as culture, identity, and social dynamics. She often describes her therapeutic style as “right-brained” because she focuses on so much more than logical analysis. Her approach affords exploration of implicit memories, emotional processing, non-verbal communication and self-awareness that go below the surface into deeper aspects of the self.
Sarah serves an eclectic clientele—including teens, adults, elder adults, couples—as well as members of the LGBTQ2S+ community and is equipped to address various psychological concerns ranging from anxiety and depression to relationship challenges and trauma. In her work with individuals and couples alike, she employs techniques from a range of therapeutic orientations including emotion-focused therapy, internal family systems therapy, narrative therapy for individuals, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy for couples. Her objective in her therapeutic work is to guide clients toward self-discovery while nurturing healthier interpersonal relationships. She welcomes individuals who may feel uncertain about whether their specific issues align with her specialties to schedule an initial session to determine compatibility.
By establishing an atmosphere grounded in trust and understanding, Sarah empowers her clients to embrace their authentic selves while navigating life’s complexities with renewed confidence and emotional insight. With her rich professional background and empathetic approach, she stands ready to support those on their path toward mental wellness.
