Dr. Kostiuk has been a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists since 2006 and holds a PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta (2011). She is a distinguished psychologist, entrepreneur, and thought leader in the field of Psychology. As the founder and owner of Aspirations Inc. and founder of Psychologists in Business, Dr. Kostiuk has dedicated her career to creating a supportive and innovative environment for both clients and therapists. Since establishing her practice early 2008, she has continuously sought and implemented business processes that align with the professional ethics outlined by the College of Alberta Psychologists to meet the therapeutic needs of clients. Technical innovation has been woven into the fabric of her practice starting with pioneering the development of her proprietary software called Aspire Practice (2011) to safeguard and manage clinical data. Expanding it over to the company website has allowed potential clients access to detailed therapist profiles, make informed decisions tailored to their unique needs and simplify registration and booking processes, empowering clients to take immediate action for their wellbeing. Additionally, a Wellness Store has been made available so that others can benefit from products supplemental to their well being while at home. Dr. Kostiuk has responded to the recognition of ongoing needs for personal growth through the creation of her unique, first of its kind, online psychological membership program Beautiful Beings, which launched in 2023 making it available to support people across the world.
Dr. Kostiuk’s foundational clinical approach is rooted in Developmental and Humanistic Psychology, informing her to assess individuals from a holistic perspective, which considers their unique life experiences and contexts. She believes in the inherent capacity for growth within each individual. She strives to create a safe place to grow with no judgment that fosters exploration leading to meaningful self-discovery. Her focus on understanding her clients so that she can address underlying issues allows the potential for deep healing of long-standing wounds that may be holding fast, which goes beyond merely alleviating presenting symptoms. She draws upon a variety of therapeutic methodologies to move clients towards their therapeutic goals based on relevancy to the presentation of their unique experiences. Dr. Kostiuk regularly engages with leading experts in psychology to stay current with advancements in the field. Her ongoing pursuit of knowledge ensures that she remains competent to offer creative solutions rooted in current best practices while remaining sensitive to individual nuances. She effectively merges her therapeutic wisdom with the client's innate wisdom to guide towards healing and transformation at a pace that is set by the client. By joining clients on their journey—be it over weeks, months or years—she fosters a collaborative experience where clients know that they are not alone when confronting or facing their difficult circumstances nor while discovering and encouraging new possibilities for growth. She is often described as compassionate, attentive, and insightful as she offers growth challenges that are intended to shift patterns and open to deeper self-understanding, self-consideration, and self-love.
In her 13 years of post-secondary education, Dr. Kostiuk embraced a breadth of training across multiple psychological discipline areas such as cognitive, development, neuroscience, forensics and abnormal behaviour, personality, psychological pharmacology, ethics, social psychology, systems & relationship dynamics, research & statistics, health, test construction, and assessment. Her years of academia provide the underpinning of her vast knowledge base which offers her several theoretical approaches and treatment modalities to address presenting client concerns, such as childhood development, parenting, and attachment; personal development over the lifespan; emotional distress/dysregulation; grief, loss, complex and developmental trauma; major life transitions; marital/coupleship, communication and conflict dynamics, and relationship repair after betrayal; and pre- and post-pregnancy or fertility plus so much more. Additionally, she has specialized training in hypnotherapy/trance work, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for the treatment of trauma, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, and Grief, Loss & Spirituality, all of which deepen the exploration of her client's suffering and allows for healing that goes beyond the conscious mind to include the body, mind and soul.
With a wealth of specialized training, Dr. Kostiuk utilizes her wisdom of evidence based approaches, along with her 25+ years of skilled experience to meet the needs of her diverse, multicultural, multi-identity clientele across various age groups including tweens, teens, adults, older adults (65+), couples, and family or inter-generational relationships (e.g., adult-adult child). Her extensive knowledge of development across the lifespan has afforded her unique insights into human behavior and emotional health at different developmental stages. While she has recently chosen to focus less on direct play therapy with younger children due to her increased demand for virtual services, her foundational expertise remains invaluable for parents seeking to gain greater understanding of emotional and behavioral expressions, provide support, structure and discipline all while cultivating stronger connections with their children. Her expertise in childhood development provides guidance that enables families to create nurturing home environments conducive to healthy development for the parents, and the parent-child relationships.
