Danielle is currently an intern student completing her Master of Counselling program from City University. Danielle is passionate about empowering positive change in the lives of her community by offering support that can aid growth and healing. Danielle practices from a strength-based approach where she believes that the client is the expert in their experiences and already holds the knowledge and skills to resolve their challenges. She works with her clients collaboratively and conversationally to assist them in living their preferred future. She believes that every individual is unique and is intentionally committed to exploring their understanding of their experiences and worldview. Danielle hopes to provide a space to process difficult emotions and experiences while also offering practical tools that clients can leave and translate into areas of their lives. Danielle’s empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgemental approach creates safety for her clients to explore the most inner depths of who they are.
Danielle takes a person-centered approach to therapy while utilizing interventions from Narrative Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) with her clients to support meaningful change within their lives. Danielle works with a range of clients, from tweens to adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship issues, self-esteem/ body image concerns, life transitions, and trauma.
Danielle has experience supporting youth living in high-risk environments with navigating challenging situations and helped facilitate positive change within their lives. Danielle currently supports children to become more aware of their emotions and controlling strong emotions in her role as a Social Skills Coach, in which she teaches social cognition to children who have social deficits in both 1-1 sessions and group settings.
Danielle is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and supports her clients with various concerns using this specialized treatment method. EMDR is used to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other disorders that might be a result of unresolved traumatic experiences. Our past disturbing experiences continue to cause distress because the memory was not adequately processed. These unprocessed memories are understood to contain the emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and physical sensations that occurred at the time of the event. When the memories are triggered these stored disturbing elements are experienced and cause the symptoms of PTSD and/or other disorders. EMDR therapy focuses directly on the memory and is intended to change the way that the memory is stored in the brain, thus reducing and eliminating the symptoms.
Danielle has a strong interest in supporting young girls and women. Therefore, she is the lead therapist for Aspirations Inc.’s Spring 2022 Groups: Creating Healthy Boundaries for Women AND Being a Tween Girl.
Danielle is offering Booking Hours: Mondays & Fridays 12pm – 7pm OR by request.
